Five of the top salaries in the NFL for 2020 belong to those in the position of Quarterback.
Dak Prescott #4 of the Dallas Cowboys and Jimmy Garoppolo #10 of the San Francisco 49ers hold the two highest salaries in the National Football League (NFL). Followed by Derek Carr #4 (Las Vegas Raiders), Russell Wilson #3 (Seattle Seahawks) and Ryan Tannehill #17 (Tennessee Titans).
These five quarterbacks rank amongst the top 10 highest salaries overall in the NFL according to the Pro-Football-Reference. Alex Smith #11 (Washington Football Team) and Tom Brady #12 (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) were the two next highest paid Quarterbacks for 2020 ranking at fourteen and nineteen.
Dak Prescott, 27 years old from Sulphur, Louisiana was first drafted in 2016 to the Dallas Cowboys in round: 4 as pick: 135. Prescott has played in two Pro Bowls (2016, 2018). He was awarded the NFL Offensive Rookie of the year in 2016. Prescott was also recognized that same year on the Pro Football Writers Association (PSWA)’s All-Rookie Team. The PSWA recognizes the seasons most outstanding rookies. Prescott has also received the Conerly Trophy twice (2014,2015), which is given to the best college football player in the state of Mississippi by the Mississippi Hall of Fame.
Jimmy Garoppolo, from Arlington Heights, Illinois born November 2, 1991was first drafted in 2014 in round: 2 and pick: 62. Garoppolo initially played for the New England Patriots from 2014 to 2017. Starting in 2017, Garoppolo began playing for the San Francisco 49ers. Garoppolo is a two time Super Bowl Champion (XLIX, LI), was awarded the Walter Payton Award in 2013, and was the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Player of the Year (2013). Garoppolo was also the First-team ALL-OVC in 2013 and Second-team All-OVC in 2012.
Although Prescott holds the highest salary as of 2020, Derek Carr the fourth, Ryan Tannehill the seventh and Alex Smith the fourteenth highest salaries, have yet to be Superbowl Champions.
